Former Housing.com CMO Pratik Seal invests in Canvs.in, a community for designers and artists in India

Canvs.in, a leading community of designers and artists in India, has received an investment of undisclosed amount from Pratik Seal, former CMO at Housing.com. As a strategic investor, Seal will extend his knowledge and expertise in media, marketing and design to aid the company in its business and community expansion. Canvs.in aims to target existing and budding talent from across industries like advertising, marketing and entertainment, providing them a platform to showcase their talent and connect with likeminded individuals.

Founded by a trio of IIT Mumbai Alumni, Canvs.in is spearheaded by Debprotim Roy, a multifaceted designer who was formerly associated with Housing.com and Quikr.com with their business and product departments. Canvs.in currently hosts portfolios of over 6500 designers from across all design fields, providing them with a community to connect with each other, find work opportunities and work with firms having relevant design requirements. It claims to offer a holistic professional value proposition to designers.

"Canvs.in is a unique concept aimed at building a single point accessibility unit for the design community of India. It is one of the few startups breaking the clutter by offering something fresh and creative instead of providing run-of-the-mill innovative solutions. I am extremely excited about Canvs.in, and impressed, what it has achieved in a short span of 16 months. I am confident that it will go a long way in streamlining creative processes on an online medium to harness the power of the community while tapping the multi-billion dollar strong design industry of India,” said Seal.

"Commercial design (excluding architecture and interiors) in India is a $3 billion+ industry where the creative muscle is vastly unexplored and untapped. Canvs.in will give a structure to the community by bringing it to the forefront and synergistically connecting it to the industry,” said Roy.

“We are also introducing Canvs Club to encourage the creative workforce to work directly work with the industry stalwarts. We are delighted to have Pratik on board with us in this journey to revolutionise design in India. His vast experience in building businesses and brands in India will be seminal to the growth of Canvs.in as we know today,” added Roy.

Seal is currently the Group CMO at AGS Transact Technologies Limited where he manages marketing, communication, product strategies, UI/UX, perception management, media, go-to-market initiatives and strategic alliances for the corporate brand, its subsidiaries, associate companies and brands. With a career spanning over 19 years in the field of brand management, product development and business leadership, Seal firmly believes in supporting new business ideas and has mentored several startups.

Additionally, in the past, he spearheaded marketing for Micromax, Housing.com and Life OK wherein he played a significant role in building the brands from scratch.
