The huge success of social networking site Orkut in India has not only spawned more such websites in the Internet, but a Delhi-based mobile value added service provider, Handygo, has gone ahead and launched Budwired, a kind of social networking service for high end mobile handsets.
Currently available only on Airtel Live, Budwired enables the user through a feature called ‘M-Slambook’ to ask his friends to write about him and carry the slambook on the move. One can also save details about his friends and also rate them on the basis of their looks, smartness, fun factor, reliability and dressing sense.
However, at present the facility to share the information with others via phones is not available. “The current market mechanics does not allow us to provide these server based services. This will be possible when 3G wireless services are introduced in India. We will also be launching location based services through which two persons having Budwired in their handsets could chat with each other free of cost,” said Praveen Rajpal, MD, Handygo.com.
“We are even ready with our mobile blogging service, but waiting for the implementation of 3G to launch it. We are also planning to provide m-commerce solutions soon,” Rajpal further said.
Handygo is also in talks with all major mobile handset manufacturers to embed the software in their handsets. “We expect Budwired to be available on high end mobile phones of all major manufacturers within three months’ time,” Rajpal said.
