CyberMedia celebrates 20 years with Dataquest Awards

Celebrating its 20 years, Cyber Media - the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) publishing major, recently presented the Dataquest Awards 2002 in the Information Technology and Telecom services industry.

Speaking to exchange4media on his experiences in the last twenty years, Pradeep Gupta, Managing Director of Cyber Media said, "These twenty years have been interesting, we've seen some amazing times. As an integrated communication channel, Cyber Media today provides bridges to the consumers through different mediums like print, multimedia, online media and television."

Cyber Media's popular IT publication DataQuest awarded Sunil Bharti Mittal as the 'IT Man of the Year Award'. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Group, India's leading integrated telecom company. He is known for leading Bharti into a leadership position and building powerful brands in the mobile, fixed-line, Internet and long distance communications. A few days back, Mittal was also presented with the Business India 'Businessman of the Year Award' for 2002.

Sam Pitroda, CEO of WorldTel, was presented with the 'IT Lifetime Achievement Award'. He is known as the father of Indian rural telephony, whose vision and technology, helped connect the people of India in the far-flung regions with a network of thousands of phone booths.

Raman Roy, President and CEO of Wipro Spectramind was given the 'Pathbreaker Award'. He is the pioneer of IT-enabled services segment in India. He has been instrumental in setting up the BPO operations of American Express, GE Capital and Spectramind in India.

These three distinguished personalities were selected by a panel including Pramod Mahajan, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Communication & Information Technology; Abraham Thomas, President of IBM India; Jerry Rao, former Country Head of Citibank India and now Chairman of MphasiS-BFL; Kiran Karnik, President of Nasscom; Pradeep Gupta, Publisher and Managing Director of Cyber Media India; Rajiv Nair, President of Microsoft India; Shyam Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief of Cyber Media; Suresh Vaswani, President and CEO of Wipro Infotech; Satish Kaura, Chairman of the Samtel Group and CN Ram, CIO of HDFC Bank.
