Former cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth on Monday launched a first of kind cricket gaming site, www.krishcricket.com, which allows visitors to play online cricket games for free. One can also download the games to one’s mobile from the site for a price.
The website has been launched with one big game and six small games, all of which can be played online as well as on mobile phones. The big game, Krish Cricket Challenge, gives the gamer opportunity to play cricket in a holistic manner. The player can select his team, his opponent’s team, the batting and bowling order, the fielding positions, the line and length of the bowling and so on. The website also tracks and keeps a record of each user’s scores and displays the list of leading performers.
“It is an entertainment oriented cricket site, and not an informatioin oriented one. We are planning to include two new games in the site very soon,” informed Srikkanth.
A special attraction of the site is 30 exciting moments, called Magic Moments, from the 1983 World Cup semi-final and final matches that are available as video clips for downloading on mobile phones.
Terming it as attribute to the game, Srikkanth said, “The portal combines the latest in IT advancement, multi-media techniques with sharp cricketing insights and passion for the game to create an altogether new experience for cricket lovers.”
Srikkanth added that the site had been visualised as an evolving site with a view to offer richer and newer features to visitors on a continuous basis. “Very soon we will be coming up with intense and exciting streaming cricket programmes like match reviews, quiz contest, interactive sessions with users,” he said.
Apart from games, visitors to the website can also learn how to ‘Bat Like A Master’. There are videos of Srikkanth giving lessons on different batting techniques. There are also video interviews, under the section named ‘World Cup’83 Legends’, with five players who share their experience of playing in the memorable final match of the 1983 World Cup. Articles published by Srikkanth, wallpapers and e-cards featuring 1983 World Cup heroes, ring tones, and tips on keeping fit are some of the other interesting content of the website.
