Café Coffee Day (CCD) recently crossed the one-million fans mark on its Facebook page. The chain has been using social media marketing to successfully create a strong brand presence in the country. Taking forward these initiatives, CCD cafes across the country are celebrating this Facebook landmark with groups of loyal customers and employees by cutting cakes exactly at 5 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011.
Apart from these celebrations, CCD is also giving away a million worth of sweepstakes to all its FB fans – a stay at the company’s exotic resorts, phones or free coffees at cafes.
An application called ‘Wheel of fortune’ will go live on Tuesday, November 8. Fans will be asked to play the game and get an assured gift.
K Ramakrishnan, President - Marketing, Café Coffee Day, said, “We use social media platform for three major activities. First is to listen to our customers and view the trend of their needs. Second is to co-create various initiatives by taking inputs from the customers and thirdly, taking feedback from them on the same. Our biggest form of advertising is the café itself. As we keep saying, each of our 1,110 cafes is a marketing tool. Additionally, with the support of social media we have created a perfect communication cycle for our reach and presence. Thus, social media has helped us make an affinity in the real time space.”
Speaking further, Ramakrishnan said, “We are a family of over one million members now on Facebook, which is a huge landmark and we are very excited about it. We have been able to reach this goal by listening to our fans and engaging them with unique and interesting activities on our FB page. The social media activities of CCD are being handled by 22feet. Meanwhile, from the existing 1,100-plus cafes, the chain plans to add 900 more outlets by 2014.
