Campus18.com, a digital talent platform, has announced its video contest – Digistars. The portal intends to attract users with its positioning of encouraging talent in all respects and also plans to use the offline medium to take their efforts forward. The website allows users to upload content in the form of blogs, pictures, music and videos.
Puneet Johar, Founder and MD of Tangerine Digital Entertainment, is behind this initiative. He stressed that Campus18.com was not a social networking website and that offline meetings were also held where people showcased their talent.
Campus18.com is targeted at the 16-35 age group in the top 10 metros of India. Johar further said that with the launch of the Digistars contest, Internet serials created by users would begin to surface on the digital medium.
Terming it as Campus18’s hunt for the India’s ‘Best Video Talent’ in film making, acting and editing, Johar added, “The winners will get a contract to make 10 short films and also a contract to have his/her own show on Campus18. Other prize winners will get a chance to create India’s first online interactive serial, which will be showcased on Campus18 and will be promoted extensively.”
Speaking about the revenue model in place for the website, Johar said a 360-degree brand solution was being created for advertisers. Launched some weeks back, the website allows members to create personalised rooms where users can display their preferred blogs, music, videos and pictures.
