‘Blog Unconference’ may seem to be a strange term for a conference, but then nothing about blogging can be strictly called conventional. Chennai was recently host to the ‘Unconference’ that brought together over 250 bloggers from all over India as well as abroad.
Participants discussed various issues ranging from corporate blogging to political blogging, and from niche blogging to disaster relief blogging. Guest speakers like Robert Scoble, who is best known for his popular blog Scobleizer, spoke to the participants through video conferencing. He threw some light on video blogging, how to go about it and some dos and don’ts.
The original Little Master, Sunil Gavaskar, shared his experience with podcasting and how it could be “as demanding as cricket.”
Yahoo! Director, George Zacharias; Dina Mehta, Sriram, and Suman Kumar were among the speakers who shared their views on topics as diverse as podcast, videocast and textcast, besides blogging of course. Incidentally, Yahoo! Was the platinum aponsor of the event.
Well-known Chennai-based blogger S Kiruba Shankar, who was one of the organisers of the ‘Unconference’ was expressed his happiness over the success of the event. “Participants ranged from six-year-olds to sixty-year-olds, and that speaks about the success of the programme,” he added.
He also pointed out that every participant who had signed up for the event at the official website for the event, www.blogcamp.in, had also been an organiser of sorts. “They have contributed by either offering to volunteer, make presentations, and participate in the discussions or whichever way they were comfortable in,” Shankar noted.
