With more and more people resorting to the online medium to search for life partners, it has become imperative for the various matrimonial sites to present themselves in a fashion that gives them maximum traffic. Keeping this in mind, BharatMatrimony and have undergone an image makeover recently. has initiated the changes in its regional sections as well. Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO, BharatMatrimony Group, said, “We have focused on increasing our user experience by placing the most important areas of operation in our home page. Search is prominent and up-front; registration is clearly indicated on the right top corner. We have introduced features like Assured Contacts, Veri Profile, real time Horoscope matching, etc. to meet all of our members’ needs.”

As far as regional sections are concerned, the site has attempted to give it a regional tinge in terms of models and background in the showcase area and one line of copy in vernacular just above the registration. has also endeavored to make the search (for profiles) process more user friendly. Users can refine their results on income, diet, education, occupation and many other criteria, thereby narrowing down to the most relevant matches quickly. The new look site also offers flexibility to save searches and store them for future use. Some of the other search features that have been improved include intelligent mapping of castes. has also introduced a new feature to ignore profiles. Members can mark a profile which they are not interested in. The search results page offers more information to the members for making quicker decisions, features like expanded photos, multiple actions, gotra and nakshatra information have been added. has also revised its rates, which are effective from January 7, 2007. However, hasn’t followed suit in this regard. Janakiraman said, “As a corporate whose underlying principle is constant innovation, we felt the need to make few changes to suit the customer expectations and the changing technology trends. Hence, we have made these changes and thereby create an all-new experience for our customers.”

Vivek Khare, Senior Vice-President,, said, “We, in any case, were adding new features on the site, thus in order to fit the new features on the site and to make the navigation easier, we thought of giving the site a complete makeover. We wanted to make it more appealing.”

As part of creating awareness in terms of giving them a marketing push, both the sites are in the process of creating campaigns around their new looks. is launching its television campaign around January 15, 2007.
