BBC World, the news and information TV channel, has taken its intellectually challenging quiz show, Mastermind India, online with an exciting contest offering prizes to the Net participants. Shot on heritage locations, the show fifth year in running, is presented by Siddhartha Basu. It is telecast on Thursdays at 2200 IST with a repeat on Sundays at 1000 and 2200 IST. It is currently sponsored by Chevron Texaco and Air Sahara. Mahindra Scorpio used to be the sponsor earlier. AT&T, Castrol, Raymonds and Telco Safari are some of the prominent advertisers during the show.
The online contest will give quizzing enthusiasts a special chance to pit their brains against the Mastermind India contenders. The participants have to answer the questions from the coming week's episode of Mastermind India to qualify for the prize and tune-in to the programme to know the correct answers. First launched in 1998 on BBC World, Mastermind came to India based on the format of Mastermind UK, which had been telecast on the BBC for over 25 years, presented by Magnus Magnusson. BBC Worldwide Ltd. publishes a book also titled Mastermind India based on the show. It is a compendium of all the questions and answers from the television series and has four editions based on the 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 series.
