Bajaj Caliber TVC and Devdas movie wins the Digital Technology Awards

The best digital visual effects category awards have gone to Bajaj Caliber TV commercial and Devdas movie in the recently announced 'Second Annual Seagate Technical Awards for Excellence in Digital Technology for Films and Television' at Mumbai during the Broadcast India 2002 Show.

The awards were judged by Roger Christen, an eminent Hollywood director who has worked as the Second Unit Director on all George Lucas films and directed the John Travolta movie 'Battlefield World'. From all over India, around 350 entries for nominations in different categories were received. Seagate, the world's leading disc storage brand catering to the entertainment industry, is the presenting sponsor of the awards.

For the best digital visual effects-feature film category, Mark Kolbe of Digital Art Media is the winner for the movie Devdas. Manish Sharma of CMM Ltd. is also the winner in the same category for the movie Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi. In the best digital visual effects-tele serial category, BR Graphics for Ramayan has got the award.

The Bajaj Caliber TV commercial got the best digital visual effects-ad/promo/commercial category award for Pankaj Khandpur of Western Outdoor. In the best 3D animation-feature films, Govardhan Vigraham of Tasaa Netcomm Pvt Ltd. is declared the winner for his work in movie Jaani Dushman.

Merchant Inc.'s Amyn Merchant for his 3D animations work in Bon Aqua, got the award for the best 3D animation-serial/ad /promo/short film category. The same category had another winner in the form of Munjal Shroff of Graphiti Multimedia for Star TV's game show Khulja Sim Sim's Genie.

In the category for best 2D animation-short film/serial/ad/promo, S.Krishnamurthy of Toonz Animation is the winner for Stone Crusher. He got another award in the best-animated 3D/2D logo/channel ID category too for Week with the Masters Logo.

The best editing in a feature film category, Rajeev Agarwal of Rajtaru Videosonic is the winner for Ek Choti Si Love Story. Udayan Shukla of Star India Pvt. Ltd. for the movie Devdas is the recipient for the best award in the category for best editing -TV program/short film/ad using non-linear digital technology. The veteran film and TV personality, Babubhai Mistry, receives the lifetime achievement award for technical contribution to the film and TV industry.
