Ajit Balakrishnan, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Rediff.com, has been named Chairman Emeritus of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). In his capacity as Chairman Emeritus, which is a life-time appointment, Balakrishnan would head the Council of past Chairpersons and provide strategic direction to the Association as well as the internet and mobile content and services industry.

Commenting on the priorities of the Association, Bikhchandani said, “Building bridges and partnerships with relevant government agencies is the top priority. Broadband penetration, better terms of business for online publishers and mobile content and services industry too are on top of the list.”

He further said, “Overall, the digital industry needs focused collective action to make Internet and mobile content and services popular and at the same time, create an enabling environment for business.
