After India, Mobile2Win to launch social networking apps in international markets

While the year 2009 began with a merger with a voice platform company, Altruist, which threw open several new opportunities for Mobile2Win, the year was also a challenging one.

Like company across sectors, the economic slowdown was a concern for this Mumbai-based mobile VAS. However, constant innovations and additional value to clients helped Mobile2Win not just retain its clients during tough times, but also extend their partnerships.

The year 2010 will see Mobile2Win further explore and expand its mobile social networking applications. A couple of products in its portfolio include Mobile Video UGC, Mobile RBT UCG and Voice Chat services.

Mobile Video UGC is a mobile video user-generated content (UGC) application that allows subscribers to record and create their own videos from their cellphones, upload to the portal that the company has created, and if they want to, forward and share with their friends via an SMS or email. Subscribers can also search for videos across categories from the search box provided in the application and forward the same to their friends via SMS or email.

Mobile RBT UGC is a user-generated content application, wherein consumers can create and record their own ring back tones and save on to their cellphones. The process of forwarding and rating is the same as the Mobile Video UGC product.

Voice Chat/ Friends Chat service are reportedly the largest providers of mobile-based voice and SMS chat services with Indian telecom operators. For instance, there is a community of more than 7 million rental paying monthly subscribers who do over 30 million minutes every month for the voice chat product application.

Following the launch of its Mobile Video UGC product with Reliance, Mobile2Win now aims to launch the same with other operators and is also eyeing international markets like South East Asia and the Middle East, where it aims to launch in the next one month.

In conversation with exchange4media, Rajiv Hiranandani, Co-Founder, Mobile2Win, said, “Mobile social networking is going to be one of the fastest growing and hottest data drivers in the years to come. User Generated Content (UGC) on ring back tones, blogging, imagery, mobile video and music are evolving into a robust offering and differentiated revenue drivers for operators nowadays, given that UGC is at the core of mobile social networking. Video UGC in particular is going to be the driver between the above mentioned categories for incremental revenues.”

He further said, “Mobile Video UGC has been launched with Reliance. We are looking to roll it out with Idea, Airtel, Tata and other telcos shortly. Our service is also about to launch in a couple of international markets in SE Asia and the Middle East within the next one month. Voice Chat/ Friends Chat is already live with Airtel, Reliance, Tata and Idea, and we looking to launch with Aircel and a couple of other telcos shortly.”

On what these applications meant for Mobile2Win, Hiranandani explained, “Mobile2Win-Altruist is well positioned to be at the forefront of innovative mobile social networking applications. These applications also lend themselves well to opportunities in mobile advertising due to the millions of subscribers who would be paying for and utilising these services. Given our extensive work in mobile marketing/ advertising with brands and media companies, we foresee several of these clients embracing this new opportunity.”
