Affle redefines top management roles

Mobile marketing firm Affle has announced that its founder, Anuj Khanna Sohum, will now take over the role of Chairman. Anuj Kumar, who was previously Executive Director South Asia, will take over as CEO.

Earlier this year, Affle had secured funding from D2 Communications, a joint venture between NTT DoCoMo and Dentsu Inc. Before that, Microsoft had also acquired a 20 per cent stake in the company. The revision of leadership roles is part of the company’s expansion strategies looking towards future investments and a possible IPO.

The new Chairman, Anuj Khanna Sohum, will lead Affle’s product and business expansion strategies and investments. He would also spearhead the identification of new partnerships and acquisition opportunities for Affle.

CEO Anuj Kumar will lead the global management of Affle’s business. He will be responsible for driving profitability and strengthening the organisation, similar to his earlier role.

Sohum said, “This is a significant development for Affle as we embark on our next phase of growth. One of our biggest achievements was building and growing a very strong management team. Interestingly, Anuj Kumar and I had known each other for over 20 years before we started Affle five years ago. I have been impressed with his passion and commitment for continued success and I am thus delighted to see him grow into the CEO’s role.”

“Going forward we will focus our efforts towards Affle becoming a global leader in mobile media innovations. We have always thrived on creating innovative solutions for consumers and businesses. I believe we are just at the onset of the mobile revolution and that Affle will play a very dominant role as a mobile media innovations company,” Sohum added.

Kumar said, “Affle has enjoyed great early success in mobile messaging and advertising in key markets. However, our greatest achievement has been in building a very high performance, dedicated and passionate team. We are thus very confident of leading Affle to much greater heights with the continued support of this fantastic team. We are looking forward to working with our partners and shareholders to build successful products & businesses and create greater success momentum for Affle globally.”
