e4m Chillout: Duroflex’s Mathew Chandy prefers to stay outdoors and engage in experiences

Being the Managing Director of this leading mattress brand does not seem to stop Mathew Chandy from spending his ‘me-time’ and indulge in doing things he likes. The variety in his professional life from studying law to heading Duroflex as its Managing Director is also seen in the variety of hobbies he loves to engage himself with during weekends and vacations.

On a typical weekend you will find me...

On weekends I am usually in Cubbon Park with my dog. I go there for a run and take my pet dog for a walk at the same time.

My idea of relaxing is...

Listening to live music by going to concerts, playing squash and running is my idea of relaxing. I used to participate in marathons but discontinued it. Now, I am on my way back to running in marathons. I also love to trek. I usually go to Nandi Hills, Kanakpura Road here where there are trekking spots during the weekends.

One vice I cannot do without...

I love to party. I cannot do without partying!

I love a Staycation/adventure...

I love to work with animals. Over Christmas, I was a part of this rehabilitation that was done with big cats. It consisted of lions, tigers and leopards from Africa. I prefer experience vacations. I don’t like to go to some place just to take a break. I’d like to engage myself in something there and experience something new.

I confess, I am a...

I am little bit of a geek. I love to study a lot. I am constantly learning something new which has nothing to do with work. Topics like music and culture attract me. Right now, I am learning salsa.

I spend me-time on...

I mostly listen to music and read. I also think a lot during my me-time and get a lot of good ideas then.

The last show I binge watched...

This reminds me that I haven’t watched TV from quite some time. I usually binge watch shows on flights. I saw House of Cards recently. I’d love to watch Black Mirror sometime.

I can make a mean ... to save my life...

I can make fish curry. I don’t cook usually but can cook. The days when I used to run a restaurant helped...

A skill/hobby I want to learn this year...

I want to complete my salsa lessons first. Then I plan to try singing. I haven’t thought of which type but just want to sing. Apart from this I’d love to read and learn about Artificial Intelligence. The noise it has created makes me want to know more so that I’m not left out.

My next vacation/adventure will be ...

Northern lights in Norway which I will be going in March.
