Cannes Lions 2017: McCann Worldgroup bags two Bronze Lions in Media

The winning streak continued for McCann Worldgroup India on Day 4 of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2017, as it won two Bronze Lions in the Media category for ‘Paytm Sweet Change’ and the much-awarded ‘Afghan Immunity Charm’ campaign created for the Ministry of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Through the ‘Paytm Sweet Change’ campaign, customers who were otherwise handed out candies instead of loose change by shop-keepers were given the Paytm candy which could be redeemed for their real worth in Paytm cash.

The ‘Afghan Immunity Charm’ campaign crafted by McCann Health, New Delhi/McCann Worldgroup India, Mumbai – which has won several metals including the Grand Prix for Good - revolves around the idea of colour-coded wristbands for children, that automatically tells doctors their vaccination status in a nation where information about a child’s health records is not always available.

India had four shortlists for the Media Lions, and notably, McCann Worldgroup converted both its shortlists into metals.

Prasoon Joshi, CEO, India and Chairman (Asia Pacific) of McCann Worldgroup said the “entire team at McCann Worldgroup India is extremely delighted” with the way the ‘Afghan Immunity Charm’ campaign has been appreciated at Cannes. Talking about the ‘Paytm Sweet Change’ campaign, he said, “Paytm is a brand we helped build over the years and it's a great partnership. Our work on Paytm has already resonated with consumers here in india, and a Cannes Lion will add another dimension to the brand's success. India has not had a no-show since 2014 in the Media Lions.
