The 60th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced shortlists for the Design Lions category. A total of 19 Indian entries have made it to the shortlist out of 234 entries. Ogilvy & Mather leads the shortlist with eight entries, followed by McCann Worldgroup India with four entries, and BBDO and Taproot with two entries each. TBWA, JWT and Leo Burnett have one entry each in the shortlist.
O&M’s campaign for WWF has two entries shortlisted and the Philips LED Torch has fetched three shortlists. McCann Worldgroup’s four shortlisted entries are for the Penguin Group. Taproot’s Farmers’ Suicide campaign for The Times of India has got two entries, while BBDO India’s two entries for Haiyya are among the shortlisted entries as well.
Mary Lewis, Creative Director, Founding Partner, Lewis Moberley is the Design Lions Jury President, while Bhupal Ramnathkar, Chairman & Founder, Umbrella Design is the Jury member from India in this category.
A total of 2,373 entries have been received from 70 countries, registering an increase of 9 per cent, as compared to 2012. India has submitted a total of 116 entries this year, as against 134 entries last year.
The entries will be awarded for their creativity, originality, execution and the level of consumer engagement. Each of these will make up 20 per cent of the vote, except for creativity, which will make up for 40 per cent of the vote.
Launched in 2008, Design Lions celebrates the creative and use of design as a lever to influence consumers and its use as an aid to the communication of brand and product messages.
The Design Lions trophies will be presented during the Cyber, Design, Press and Radio Lions Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday, June 19.
