33 Indian entries in Press shortlist and 5 in Radio

The Press Lions and the Radio Lions have brought some more good news for Indian agencies. There are 33 Indian entries that have made it to the Press Lions. Leo Burnett has eight shortlisted entries; O&M India and Cheil Worldwide have five each; JWT India has four; McCann Erickson and Saatchi & Saatchi have three each; and Grey Worldwide, Contract and Mudra have one each.

There are five Indian entries that have made it to the Radio Lions shortlists -- three from TBWA\India and two from Mudra.

Press Lions

There are 33 Indian entries that have been shortlisted in the Press category. Of Leo Burnett India’s eight, three are for P&G’s Tide Detergents -– ‘Lipstick’, ‘Ketchup’ and ‘Ice cream’, and five for Luxor Highlighting – ‘Che’, ‘Charlie’, ‘Hitler’, ‘Blue’ and ‘Pink’.

Ogilvy & Mather India has five entries in the shortlist, two for Rohan Builder and Developers -– entries titled ‘Lamp Shade’ and ‘Side Lamp’; two for Apollo Hospitals –- entries titled ‘Reincarnation’ and ‘Afterlife’; and one for Lenovo -– ‘Gutter’.

All the five shortlisted entries of Cheil Worldwide are for Samsung. These include ‘Delhi’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Calcutta’, ‘Bangalore’ and ‘Madras’.

JWT India’s four shortlisted entries are ‘Pen’ for Nestle India; ‘Splash’ for Pepsi Foods; ‘Twins’ for GM Pen International; and ‘Scarecrow’ for Coromandel Fertilisers.

McCann Erickson has three for Cocco’s Café. These are ‘Kurt’, ‘Marilyn’ and ‘Van Gogh’.

Saatchi & Saatchi also has three shortlists for its entries for Cox and Kings -– ‘Eifel Tower’, ‘London Bridge’ and ‘Statue of Liberty’.

CreativeLand Asia has two for Parle Agro Beverages -– ‘Earth vs Sun’ and ‘Evolution’.

Grey Worldwide has one for its work for the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The entry is ‘Taj Mahal’. Mudra Communication has been shortlisted for its entry ‘One Tree’ for Sanctuary Asia, and Contract Advertising for ‘Family Name’ for Aadhar.

There are 7,442 entries from 69 countries in this category, which is an increase of 6.6 per cent compared to last year. This category, too, like Lions Direct and Outdoor Lions, has seen an increase in the number of entries from India. There are 333 Indian entries competing for the Press Lions this year compared to 300 last year.

Craig Davis, Chief Creative Officer-Worldwide, JWT, UK, is the Jury President. Grey India's former National Creative Director Priti Nair is on the jury from India this year in this category.

Radio Lions

The two entries from Mudra that have made it to the shortlist are for the advertiser Cycle Agarbatti. The entries are ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ and ‘Jai Dev’. TBWA\India has three shortlists for The History Channel –- ‘Bhajan’, ‘Choir’ and ‘Chant’.

Launched in 2005, the Radio Lions competition honours the best international creative radio advertising. There are 1,259 entries from 56 countries, a decrease of 1.1 per cent compared to last year. Mark Gross, Senior VP & Group Creative Director, DDB Chicago, USA, is the Jury President. JWT India's Executive Creative Director Senthil Kumar is also a jury member. Indian entries have decreased in this category too – against 46 works entered last year, this year there are only 36 works.
