June 21, 07

The shortlist of one of the most awaited categories -- Films Lions -- has been announced. Hopes have been very high from this category since India has not yet won any Gold, and the performance is not one of the best so far at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2007. However, India has only five entries in the shortlist. Indian agencies had entered 77 entries in this category.

McCann Erickson has two for Happy Dent, JWT has one for Nike, Leo Burnett has one for Bajaj Fans, and production house Code Red Films has one for the Eye Bank Association of India in the shortlist.

The results of the Films Lions will be announced on June 23. The 22-member jury is chaired by Jury President Bob Scarpelli, Chairman and CCO, DDB Worldwide. Contract’s Ravi Deshpande is also on this jury. For the record, India had not won a single Lion last year in this category.
