CNN-IBN, India’s No.1 English news channel presents yet another unique show – ‘The Last Word’. Hosted by India’s best interviewer Karan Thapar, who will play the role of media’s ombudsman in the show. ‘The Last Word’ is an attempt to scrutinise the role of Indian media in covering news events. The half hour show starts this Friday, 22 October at 10 pm with a repeat telecast every Saturday, at 11:30 am and 5:30 pm only on CNN-IBN.
For the first time on Indian television, Karan Thapar will unravel the entangled web of media. The show will highlight the role of the media in context to the week’s big news story and look to find answers every week on issues that include: ‘How accurate & wise is the media’, ‘How do we understand the full impact of new media’, ‘Does the media have motives of its own’, ‘Shouldn’t journalists be accountable too’.
The show follows an interactive format wherein eminent personalities from the field of journalism and civil society will be invited to discuss the role of the media in context to the week’s big news story with Karan Thapar on the show. ‘The Last Word’ will not only focus on the print and television medium, but will also expand its horizons and ponder on other mediums such as radio, advertising, new age media such as the online world and social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
