Zee to launch separate encrypted beam for West Asia

Zee Network is planning to launch a separate encrypted beam for markets in West Asia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal under the Zee International banner by May. This will help the channel sell airtime slots to advertisers in these markets.

According to industry sources most advertisers in these markets do not advertise on Indian channels because ad rates in India are much higher, especially during prime time. Also, India's prime time does not coincide with that of Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and West Asia.

However, the new beam will reportedly not have any effect on the decoder boxes already in place in these markets and will allow Zee TV to modify its content to coincide with the prime time in different markets.
