Zee Café has decided to do some new things in this New Year. The channel, for the first time, plans to air Hollywood movies starting January. The channel will also air two reality shows – ‘8th & Ocean’ and ‘I Wanna be a Soapstar - Season II’.
‘8th & Ocean’ is a reality show based on the high stakes and competitive world of modeling, while ‘I Wanna be a Soapstar - Season II’ is a reality show aimed at finding the next soap star for the show ‘All My Children’.
Some of the Hollywood blockbusters that the channel would show every weekend, starting January, include ‘Universal Soldier’, ‘Havana’, ‘Psycho’ and Johnny
Depp-starrer ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’, among others.
Neel Chakravorty, Business Head of Zee Studio and Zee Café, said that the reason they were starting movies on Zee Café was that they wanted to make it a general entertainment channel. “Efforts are being made from our side to make the channel a complete GEC, and this leaves space for movies within that. During the weekend, there is more interest for watching movies, which is why we have chosen this time slot,” he added.
“We picked up ‘8th & Ocean’ because we felt it would connect well with the audiences,” he further said.
