Yahoo! India is in the process of zeroing in on a new media partner. The decision to invite agencies for a pitch was taken a few weeks back. The presentations for the business have culminated and a decision is expected by next week, according to Yahoo! India officials. The incumbent on the business is Canco Advertising. No change is expected in the creative side of the business, which is handled by DBW.
“Canco Advertising has done a good job for us,” explained Sonya Banerjee, Head, Marketing, Yahoo! India. “However, why we are looking for specialists in various categories is because Yahoo! India is on high growth trajectory and we want domain experts to take us to the next growth level,” she added.
Banerjee explained that Yahoo! India was still debating on whether the account would lie with one agency or whether multiple partners would be roped in.
Speaking on the budget, she said, “It is too early to give a figure on that. There is still a long process by when we have factored our strategic and vertical inputs to arrive on a budget figure and giving anything before that can be misleading.”
