World Effie Festival comes to Asia for the first time, to be held in Singapore on Feb 28-29

The World Effie Festival 2008, which recognises effective ideas and strategies, will be held in Singapore on February 28-29. It is for the first time that the World Effie Awards will be held in Asia and outside New York since the Festival began in 1968. According to the official website of the World Effie Festival, the event would be held in Singapore in 2009 as well.

This year, the Festival will see icons of global advertising and marketing arenas celebrate, acknowledge and discuss creative effectiveness in communication. The two-day event will also feature thought-provoking presentations by a list of speakers from the industry like Shelly Lazarus, CEO and Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide; Lord Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London Olympics 2012; Jean Marie Dru, President and CEO of TBWA; and David Droga, Head of DrogoFive, Publicis Ambience.

Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will also attend the Festival to give an insightful dialogue on ‘Branding Singapore’. Speakers at this year’s Festival will cover topics like ‘Building an effective culture’, Effective ideas in design’, ‘Creativity and effectiveness’, ‘Effective use of new digital platforms’, ‘Media and accountability’, ‘Value of ideas’, and ‘Enrtreprenuership’.

In addition, the World Effie Festival 2008 will showcase the work of Gold Effie winners from around the world, with the winners themselves presenting and leading interactive discussions to maximise learning.

The World Effie Festival is presented jointly by the New York American Marketing Association – creators and owners of the Effie concept – and the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS). Jade Apple Marketing is the marketing and event management partner.

Yahoo! is the event’s official global partner, while CNN is the official global TV broadcaster, and MediaCorp is the official Singapore partner.
