WagonR and The Times of India seek the next big biz idea via the ‘Think Big Challenge’

WagonR and The Times of India are jointly presenting the ‘Think Big Challenge’. The contest invites Indians to come forward to contest for ‘the title’. The idea behind the contest is to bring out innovative business ideas. The activity, which is spread across 19 cities and 160 Maruti dealerships nationally, was kicked off on November 12, 2009. The announcement phase will include print, radio, email blasts, websites and ground activations.

Also partnering with WagonR and The Times of India for this activity are HDFC Bank, Indian Angels Network, Times Zig Wheels, Times Red Cell, CNBC and Awaaz. The media vehicles being used include electronic for mass reach and image build-up, print for announcement and reminders, and through destination branding elements at the dealership.

Elaborating on the initiative, Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager - Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, explained, “WagonR Think Big Challenge is an activity which will bring out innovative business ideas. Unlike other challenges, it does not stop at business ideas. Multiple tests would be conducted at each stage of the activity to check on the skill sets needed for taking the business idea to execution. Mentoring sessions would be given for the chosen few before they meet venture capitalists to present their business proposals. This is a unique platform for winners to present their ideas to investors for seed capital. The winner will take home a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a WagonR car as the coveted prize.”

Commenting on the tie-up with WagonR, CR Srinivasan, Director, The Times of India Group, said, “The Times Group not only offers a plethora of media options to its clients, it also offers constant innovations to overcome the existing clutter in the market. WagonR ‘Think Big Challenge’ is one such concept jointly created by BCCL and Maruti, where integration of various media vehicles like print, radio, and the Internet has been incorporated for amplifying and maximising reach. We have associated with various partners to make this a colossal property.”

Various skills that WagonR would be looking out for in the participants through various stages in the activity include the big idea, smartness, passion, leadership, marketing and the final presentation. The activity will culminate by the end of January 2010.
