Video: Initiative’s Jim Hytner in conversation @Cannes Lions

Jim Hytner, a seasoned IPG hand, was recently given the global charge of Initiative as its CEO. Prior to this, he was the President for G-14 markets for UM. Initiative saw two senior announcements on June 18, when Manas Mishra was appointed to head Initiative in India as Sudha Natrajan exited the agency and Marc Bresseel was appointed the President for G-14 markets, the cluster that includes India.

In a conversation with exchange4media, where Hytner speaks on the recent leadership changes at the agency and other IPG Mediabrands initiatives at Cannes, he said that both leadership announcements coming at the time of Cannes Lions was a coincidence – “I am not a great believer of holding back good or bad news. The announcements just had to be made now.”

Hytner also spoke on the India market and the expectations Initiative has from India. He said, “India market has a huge amount of optimism, albeit cautious optimism. It is touched by the global economic downturn but not so much that it should create any panic. Indian economy is growing at over six per cent and that is a figure that most economies can only dream of. India has got unbelievable brilliance that would take it to great heights.”

Hytner also highlighted some of the advantages of IPG Mediabrands pooling together its resources for a more focussed and prepared approach to Cannes Lions this year.
