Videocon has selected Ambience and RK Swamy/BBDO to handle its advertising business in addition to retaining SSC&B Lintas. The Videocon account is estimated to be worth around of Rs 40 crore.
Without divulging the names, Sunil Tandon, VP, Marketing, Videocon, said that eight agencies were in the fray for the business. SSC&B Lintas was not involved in the pitch processes at all.
Tandon said, "The consumer electronics part of the business is assigned to Ambience and RK Swamy will take care of home appliances. For the campaigns that cut across all our products, we have SCC&B Lintas."
The agencies are excited with the win. Nakul Chopra, President, Ambience Publicis, said, "This is a great win for us, an interesting and motivating assignment. The consumer electronics division includes colour television, DVD players and audio systems. The home appliances division comprises refrigerators, air-conditioners, washing machines and microwave ovens.
On the need for multiple agencies, Tandon said, "Over the last two years, our business has really grown. We have a multiple spread now and there are new products that have got added. That's why we need different agencies that hold expertise in these lines to partner with us."
On the reasons for selecting Ambience and RK Swamy, he said, "We were looking for people who could contribute to strategic planning and address both external and internal communication. These agencies demonstrated a clear understanding of what we were looking at."
