Unilever’s Paul Polman to explore ways to navigate a VUCA world @ISA's Global CEO Conference

The countdown has begun for the first ever global CEO conference of the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) on ‘Navigating a VUCA World’. To be held on October 30, 2013 at The Leela Hotel in Mumbai. The goal of this conference is to sharply dissect the tough times we are facing in the current economic situation, and to find out how organisational processes and practices need to be recast to deliver to this new VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world. The conference is being held in partnership with exchange4media.

Paul Polman, Chief Executive Officer, Unilever will be the keynote speaker at this conference. He will share his thoughts on how business leaders can navigate in these tough economic situations.

Among other key speakers at the event is R Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons, who will be addressing the distinguished guests on ‘Leadership and Managing Human Capital in Turbulent Times’. Gopalakrishnan has over 45 years of industry experience and has been with Tata Sons for the past 14 years. He has also served Unilever in Jeddah as Chairman of Unilever Arabia, Managing Director of Brooke Bond Lipton India, and as Vice Chairman of Hindustan Unilever for 31 years.

There are times when one questions on how to reignite growth in an economic slowdown. Manu Anand, President - India and South Asia, Mondelez International, and Managing Director, Cadbury India will answer questions such as ‘What should be the risk-taking strategy for businesses in an uncertain economic environment?’,  ‘How should they offset risk-taking with backup measures?’, and ‘Is uncertainty an opportunity?’ in his session at the conference.

Ravi Kant, Vice Chairman, Tata Motors will throw light on ‘Why Businesses Must Factor in Economic Cycles’. Kant had joined Tata Motors in 1999, and has been associated with Jaguar and Land Rover, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles, Korea, and Tata Motors, Thailand.

The economic slowdown may not have hit everyone, so how does one find new pockets of growth? That is the topic that Marten Pieters, Managing Director and CEO, Vodafone India will touch upon. He will share his experience of identifying new markets, consumer segments and profitable niches that have helped shift the business into higher orbit.
