UB Group’s Spirits Division creative account under review

The creative side of the Rs 50-crore UB Group’s Spirits Division account is up for grabs. While all three of the incumbent agencies – Mudra, JWT and Rediffusion DY&R -- will be a part of the pitching process, a number of other agencies have also been invited. Alok Gupta, Senior Vice-president, Spirits Division, who confirmed the development to exchange4media, said the final decision will be taken by the first week of December.

The Spirits Division media account, which is with Mindshare, is not part of this review.

According to Gupta, the Spirits Division, made up of McDowell and Herbertsons, is reviewing the account to keep itself abreast with what the industry has to offer. “More than a pitch, this is an assessment of the current industry trends. We would like to ensure that we are not missing out on what’s best in the business,” he said.

Along with its three current agencies, Grey, Contract and a number of other agencies are also expected to participate in the process. Gupta said the presentations are scheduled to start by the middle of next week and will extend into November. “After this, we would like to go through at least two rounds of discussions. The final decision should hopefully be taken by the first week of December,” he added.
