For the first time ever, a festival celebrating all forms of creativity, called ‘Creative Week NYC’, will take place in New York from May 4-8, 2009. The announcement was made by Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club, a non-profit organisation dedicated to recognising excellence in advertising and design. Creative Week NYC includes three awards shows honouring the year’s best achievements in advertising, interactive media and design in addition to events devoted to digital, music, film and the fine arts.
In a prepared statement, Warlick said, “There will be myriad events ranging from The One Show, One Show Interactive and One Show Design to agencies’ parties and special screenings as well as museum exhibitions, all open to the public. Creative Week NYC will attract thousands of festival-goers from around the world to come to New York.”
The week will kick off with the One Show Design on May 4. One Show Design, now in its ninth year, recognises excellence for innovative design in advertising, branding and other categories. On May 5 and 6 is the Education Festival. Agency tours are designed to give students an inside look into some of the top agencies in New York City, while portfolio reviews are another opportunity for advertising students to have their work reviewed by top creative directors.
The 15th Annual Student Exhibition Opening and Sneak Preview ‘Art & Copy’ are also scheduled for May 5.
Then The One Show takes place on May 6. Now in its 34th year, The One Show, sets the industry standard for excellence in print, television, radio, outdoor, innovative marketing, integrated branding and branded content.
The One Show Interactive Award will be held on May 8. One Show Interactive recognises the best in new media advertising with cutting-edge categories like branded applications, New Media Innovation and Online Branded Content. The awards are now in its 12th year.
The other events on May 7 and 8 include Creative unConference and Client Pitch Competition and One Show Student Awards Ceremony.
