The Advertising Club Bangalore, a communication professionals’ body that confers annual awards for excellence in Communication and Media has announced this year’s edition of Big Bang Awards. The Awards are slated for September 19, 2014.
This year’s Big Bang Awards has not made any major changes though some of the categories have been removed and some new categories have been added this year.
Speaking further on this, Malavika Harita, President, Advertising Club Bangalore said, “Based on both relevance and our past experience, we have rationalised the award categories. We have removed certain categories and added certain categories such as e-commerce website, web app or game, social media, mobile and categories in appreciation of craft of art direction and writing. Through these awards, we aim to recognise and infuse fresh thinking into Indian brands and also appreciate new arts or categories that haven’t been appreciated earlier.”
A panel discussion is planned before the awards ceremony. The panelists and the topic of discussion are yet to be decided.
As it might be recalled, last year, Big Bang had tied up with Global Best Awards of USA and had gone online, which had helped the communication industry to participate from across the country.
Arvind Kumar, Executive Director, Advertising Club Bangalore said, “Going online had happened naturally, as there was lot of interest shown from different parts of the world for participating in Big Bang Awards. Also, since the online advertising space has been growing rapidly, it makes easier for social media, digital and mobile agencies to showcase their talent in a better way. It also enables agencies from nooks and corners to send in their entries. Judges also find this comfortable and a good way of judging which in turn saves time for these experts.”
Close to 40 judges are expected to be on the jury of Big Bang and each entry will be judged by minimum of three judges.
Entries have started coming in and the deadline is extended to August 25, 2014. This year, Big Bang is expecting more than 1000 entries.
