Starcom Mediavest Group creates regional planning position, ropes in Malaysia CEO Paul Corrigan

Starcom has created a regional planning position as part of its product development push, tapping Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) Malaysia CEO, Paul Corrigan. Corrigan’s new role would be to define better growth in South East Asia. He will identify the markets and opportunities and which core products to focus on and will be over looking India.

Corrigan would shift to the role full time in August as part of a planned transition to prevent hiccups at SMG’s Starcom and Mediavest operations, according to the network’s regional CEO, D Sriram. The pan-Asia role is new for the group, which, until mid-2005, had split Asia-Pacific into two sub-regions.

“I am delighted to have Paul on the board. He has got 15 years of experience in this planning business. He is an old strategic planner. Given Paul’s extensive experience and passion in the strategic planning area, he can start to focus on helping us across markets with our core product,” Sriram added.

He further said that India was one of the countries with strong strategy. Corrigan will take things from India and export it, as planning product is highest in India.

Meanwhile, Corrigan will continue as SMG Malaysia CEO, but day-to-day management duties will be handled by Mediavest General Manager, G M Kristine Ong. Ong has also been given a product development brief across SMG Malaysia in her new role as Chief Development Officer.
