STAR to integrate ad sales, content of TV business with indya.com

STAR India is integrating the ad sales and content of its television business with indya.com. Star network’s ad sales and content heads, Raj Nayak and Sameer Nair, are being inducted into the board of indya.com. indya.com plans to make a foray into a new business activity. A CEO will be appointed, sources said. He will report to indya.com CEO Sunil Lulla.

Star’s Interactive division COO Sunil Rajshekhar will not be involved in indya.com. He, however, will play an investment management role and oversee operations in the 4 other portals Star has invested in.

Indya.com act as the online content supplier for Hathway Cable & Datacom where Star has a 26 per cent stake.

Star’s content team for broadband will continue to function under its direct-to-home division. Content for digital television services is under Nirmala Kamath.

Star will extend all its television content on indya.com. Currently, Star Plus, Star Movies, Star World and Channel V have been integrated into indya.com. Contests and promotions of Star channels and programmes will be routed through indya.com. Similarly, indya.com will be promoted on the Star channels.

The future step will be to make the PC-portal able for television content. In the convergence economy, indya.com will have the webcasting of several Star channel programmes.
