Spacetoon TV on the lookout for creative and media agencies

Spacetoon TV, the newest entrant in the kids’ channel genre, is in process of finalising its creative and media partners. Launched by Kids Media India (KMI), a subsidiary of Dubai-based Spacetoon Media Group, on January 15, 2009, Spacetoon TV is a free-to-air kids’ edutainment channel.

The channel officials have confirmed that they are in the process of finalising the agencies, but did not divulge any further details. The account size, too, could not be ascertained despite repeated attempts.

Regarding marketing plans, the channel is planning to indulge in numerous on-ground activities. Spacetoon Kid’s TV channel (Hindi) will cater to all kids across India in the 4-12 age group. According to an official statement, Spacetoon’s objective was – ‘Entertain to Educate and Educate to Entertain’. In December 2008, the group had announced their plans to launch a channel in early 2009.

The Spacetoon Group, founded in 1976, is an integrated media group involved in television broadcasting, radio, licensing, merchandising, online and interactive products. The group’s flagship channel, Spacetoon Kids TV, is present in 22 countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and also has plans to launch the channel in Korea, Iran and Russsia.

KMI is a subsidiary of Spacetoon Media Group. In India, the business focus for KMI included licensing, merchandising, syndication, promotions and events for portfolios of animated properties. They also hold various licensing deals in India for varied consumer products across categories. The company launched its operations in India in 2005 with acquisition rights for the cartoon character ‘Doraemon’.
