Sourav Ganguly to give a brand boost to INX News

INX News, the news arm of INX Network, is gearing up to launch its news channel NewsX by the spring of 2008 and has signed up former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as brand ambassador.

Ganguly won’t be just a mute face of the channel, but would also present a show on NewsX, besides being actively involved in the channel’s programming. He will closely work with the NewsX sports team, headed by sports journalist Pradeep Magazine, to ensure quality sports coverage on the channel.

Ganguly will also play a role in the entertainment programming of 9X, the Network’s Hindi entertainment channel.

Indrani Mukerjea, Founder and CEO, INX Media Pvt Ltd, said, “Sourav Ganguly is one of the most loved stars of India’s collective passion – cricket – and we are delighted to announce that he has signed up with us. As we work to set up NewsX as a truly world class channel, our choice of Ganguly as brand ambassador reaffirms our commitment to going with only the best for NewX.”

Vir Sanghvi, CEO, NewsX, said, “I have always been keen to bring Sourav Ganguly on board, and I am pleased that we have signed up for a long term association. We are just a few months away from the launch, and this announcement is just a beginning for what we hope would be a channel with quality news and coverage unmatched in its depth and scale.”

Commenting on his appointment as brand ambassador, Ganguly said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be associated with the INX Network. They have already launched 9X and 9XM, their entertainment and music channels, respectively, which are creating waves in the media industry. I look forward to my association with them.”
