Sonal Dabral, Ravi Deshpande, Sumanto Chattopadhyay among judges for AdFest 2008

The Asia Pacific Advertising Festival (AdFest) 2008 has announced the judges who would officiate the judging of various ad works across Asia. Quite a few Indians have made it to the jury list – Ravi Deshpande of Contract Advertising, Sonal Dabral of Bates David Enterprise, Emmanuel Upputuru of Publicis India, Sumanto Chattopadhyay of O&M, Ashish Chakravarty of McCann Erickson, and Debojyoti Purkayastha of JWT.

This year, AdFest would have nine panels judging across 13 Lotus categories. The nine panels would contain 63 jurors from 19 cities – Auckland, Bangkok, Colombo, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, London, Manila, Melbourne, Miami, Mumbai, New Delhi, New York, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.

According to AdFest President, Jimmy Lam, the working committee had put a lot of efforts to bring together a wonderful and impressive collection of creatives to form the nine judging panels. “This year, we have invited 63 reputable creative leaders from 59 advertising agencies in 19 cities,” Lam said.

He further said, “In 2007, we introduced three new categories – Radio, 360 and Innova Lotus. We continue to evolve with the ever changing industry. Therefore, we have already added two more categories to the Lotus Awards line-up this year. They are New Director Lotus and Design Lotus, bringing our total categories to 13, including TV Lotus, Outdoor Lotus, Direct Lotus, Cyber Lotus, Film Craft Lotus, Print Craft Lotus, Radio Lotus, 360 Lotus, Innova Lotus, New Director Louts, Design Lotus, Press and Poster Lotus.”

Among the international creative leaders, there are also Indian creatives who feature in the jury at the AdFest 2008. Ravi Deshpande, CCO, Contract Advertising, Mumbai will sit on the judging seat for two categories – 360 Lotus and Innova Lotus.

Emmanuel Upputuru, NCD, Publicis India, will be one of the judges for Radio Lotus, while Sumanto Chattopadhyay, ECD, South Asia, O&M, Mumbai, will officiate for the TV Lotus category.

Prasoon Pandey, Director, Corcoise Film, Mumbai would be a judge for New Director Lotus; Sonal Dabral, Chairman India, and Regional Creative Director – Asia Pacific, Bates David Enterprise, would officiate fpr Press & Poster Lotus; Ashish Chakravarty, Senior Creative Director & Creative Chief, McCann Erickson, Delhi would be a judge for Outdoor Lotus; and Debojyoti Purkayastha, Associate Vice-President and Senior Creative Director, JWT Mumbai, would officiate for Print and Print craft category.
