Seventymm, a leading player in the movie rental business, has signed on Rediffusion DYR Kolkata as its communication partner. The portal has ambitious plans both in the rental arena and the community space. The size of the account is pegged at Rs 8 crore.
Confirming the development, Subhankar Sarker, COO, Seventymm, said, “With an ad spend of Rs 8 crore in 2008, we are planning to go a full 360 degrees. Apart from traditional media, we will also be looking at road shows, BTL activities and extensive use of the Internet media.”
Sarker is clearly upbeat about the business prospects for the coming year. According to him, “With the growth in sales of DVD players – in fact, nearly 15 million DVD players are expected to be sold in 2008 – movie rentals as a category is all set to grow exponentially in India. With its unique model designed to provide a pleasurable user experience at every stage, Seventymm is a benchmark service offering in this space. We aim to be in 40 cities by the end of 2009, and offer many more film-based entertainment options to our consumers. We will continue to provide our consumers with the choice, the convenience and the community benefits that a Seventymm member is used to.”
Commenting on the account win, Amitava Sinha, Executive Vice President and Managing Partner, Rediffusion DYR Kolkata, said, “Great movies have historically been an offshoot of great alliances. From the iconic MGM to the lovable Laurel and Hardy, and closer home, the indomitable Yash-Raj combo, great partnerships have brought the silver screen alive. Likewise, we are looking to a rocking partnership between Rediffusion and Seventymm.”
Sinha further said, “Our creative team is really excited at the prospect of working on this, not just because of the intrinsic possibilities of cinema as an idiom, but also for the online and viral opportunities this account is likely to afford.”
