Satyam Infoway Limited launching 25 cybercafes by Feb-end

India's first ISP, Satyam Infoway Limited (SIL) has turned its eyes on private cybercafe operators by inviting them to come into the Satyam i way fold for better positioning. Following the success of i ways (cybercafes) across the metros, the company is entering into Hyderabad in a big way by launching 25 cybercafes by February-end and set a target to include 75 more in three to four months' time, the official said.

The estimated users of Internet is 4.6 million in 2000 and will be in excess of 12 million consumers by 2003. "We hope the private operators switch over to Satyam i ways fold and take the advantages such as nationwide branded chain, high speed connectivity, customised software for subscription model, roaming facility to members, specially designed Webstations, high revenue, good ambience and apart from printing, scanning and refreshments, said the official.

The company has set a target of 600 i ways by the end of March 2001 from the existing 250 plus. About 85 to 90 per cent of them will run by franchisees while the remaining run by Satyam Infoway, he said. The company is also looking at high traffic outlets like malls, business complexes apart from HP petrol bunks.
