Samsung IIFA Awards 2004 to be held in Singapore

The Samsung IIFA Awards 2004 will be held on 22nd May in the picturesque locales of Singapore. The announcement was made at a press conference held at J W Marriott, Mumbai and Vivek Prakash (Vice President, Marketing, Samsung India), Lim Neo Chian (CE, Singapore Tourism Board), Kunal Dasgupta (Chief Executive Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Sony Network) and Wiz Sabbas Joseph (Director, Wiz craft International Entertainment) were amongst those present at the conference. Launched four years ago at Millennium Dome London, the presentation ceremony is the highpoint of a three-day extravangza- the Singapore IIFA Weekend 2004- that will showcase the best of Indian cinema and provide a platform for interaction with global media.

The Awards will also mark IIFA's continuing association with Samsung, the leading provider of consumer electronics. Samsung is leveraging this platform to establish their association with cinema and partner IIFA that would put India on the map of global cinema. The Fifth Samsung IIFA Awards 2004 will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which can seat over 7000 guests who would be travelling from all over the world. Grand Hyatt, Singapore is the Hospitality partner for the IIFA weekend.

India's media conglomerate Hindustan Times is also participating in the IIFA movement as an Associate Media Sponsor of the Samsung IIFA Awards 2004. The Awards will be broadcast live and exclusive across the globe via Sony Entertainment Television. The channel will telecast the awards through episodes on the nominees, a flashback of IIFA, a prelude, the presentation ceremony and the IIFA weekend. The promoters Wizcraft and the IIFA Academy will specially fly 350 members of the film industry, including film stars, directors, music directors and other celebrities.

Vivek Prakash (Vice President- Marketing), Samsung India states, " Cricket and Cinema in India are a passion and provide a platform for us to be involved with our customers.
