THE New Year has arrived. I have ‘THE’ in all caps because it is to afford some shred of respect to the Mayans and the supposed year of the Apocalypse. Well, if it is, then it has started off on a great note! What with a snazzy line-up of launches at the Auto Expo 2012, currently on in Delhi! Those who were unfortunate enough not to witness the sight of those glorious machines will have to be content with the flurry of brand campaigns soon to follow, recession be damned.
While some media houses and independents will set up shop in new markets and embark on new ventures this year, there are a host of new product launches scheduled, new brand languages and identities being written, and several communications flooding the digital space.
It is also the year of the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3. It is the year when the Budget is scheduled for a March announcement instead of the usual February ceremony. It is the year of the Presidential election. It is the year which precedes the year of the RSCI. It is the year when most holidays do not fall on a Saturday or a Sunday. In short, it spells a shorter year, but with more excitement, more writing, more reading, more tracking, more learnings, more follow-ups.
Does the end still matter? All I can say is, bring on the fireworks!
