Reporter’s Diary: Choreos, ‘Connexions’ and a couple of stories

This is my first Reporter’s Diary and my mind is buzzing with all that have been happening in the last few weeks, which have been quite eventful, to say the least. I attended Lintas Media Group’s event to announce its touchpoints research ‘Connexions’ in Gurgaon with my Editor. It was an action-packed evening with who’s who of the industry flocking in good numbers. I was a little lost about what the whole event was all about, till my Editor took me aside and explained what Connexions was. It is a research, which is designed to assist advertisers in ways to better the reaching out to specific target audiences across various touchpoints, where information relevant to various product categories has been made available. After the whole explanation, it started to make some sense.

The whole evening passed pretty smoothly and I learnt the art of networking. And, how do you network? You observe people chit-chatting and then you scan through the whole gathering, hunt down who is important, go and say hello and introduce yourself. It was not as difficult as I thought it would be. So, we spent the whole evening making our own ‘Connexions’ too!

A week later came Choreos. As instructed by my Editor, we are supposed to take out a special supplement on Choreos – the internal awards instituted by GroupM to recognise talent and celebrate team spirit. It was grand ceremony that took place in Delhi to celebrate the second year of Choreos. Last year, the event had taken place in Mumbai. I met Vikram Sakhuja, CEO, GroupM and introduced myself. He said to me, “As I am with family today, I am not carrying any cards”. And he was quite right. Choreos is about celebrating with the large GroupM family. The theme of Choreos this year was ‘Band of Brothers’. The evening was marked with fabulous entertaining performances. The host of the evening was Cyrus Sahukar. The stand-up comedy act by Vir Das had everyone in splits. It was one grand, fun-filled, entertaining evening that I was glad to report.

Apart from that, I did a couple stories here and there. When you do exclusive stories, which the competition hasn’t carried, it always brings smile to your face. And I’ve had the chance to smile a couple of times this week.

So, Choreos and Lintas Connexions made my week quite eventful and left me richer as a journalist. I hope to attend many more such events in the future. As I am falling short of words of what more to write, I shall conclude my first edition of Reporter’s Diary here.
