Rediffusion's former COO Amitava Sinha joins Genesis Advertising as Group CEO

Amitava Sinha, who was until recently Chief Operating Officer of Rediffusion Y&R, joins a growing breed of senior advertising professionals who are increasingly turning to entrepreneurial ventures. He is set to join Genesis Advertising as Group CEO with equity participation that would progressively increase with time and growth of the agency.

Founded in 1993, Genesis is a thriving Kolkata based agency with presence in Mumbai and Delhi as well. The group also has a robust exhibitions business.

Confirming this development, Ujjal Sinha, founder & Managing Director of Genesis is really upbeat about the way forward. "With someone of Amitava's seniority and stature at the helm , we are now set to realise our ambition of exploring new domains , new geographies, new competencies and of course new and more exciting brands to work on . We should soon be a medium sized independent agency to reckon with nationally."

Amitava Sinha began his career in marketing with FMCG major Reckitt & Coleman (now Reckitt Benckiser) in the mid-1980s . He then had a seven year stint at JWT ( then HTA ) handling essentially the ITC cigarette brands which were among biggest advertisers of that time before heading the Kolkata operations of first McCann Erickson and thereafter Bates . He joined Rediffusion Y&R in 2003 and played various senior national roles before taking over as Chief Operating Officer in 2011.

" Though it is a somewhat new context and challenge , my mantra at Genesis will be the same as what has worked for me in building up several network agency offices hands on ...building teams , building relationships and building brands / businesses," says Sinha.
