Rediffusion elevates Komal Bedi Sohal as Chief Creative Officer

Komal Bedi Sohal has been appointed as Chief Creative Officer of Rediffusion Y&R with immediate effect. The development comes in the wake of the decision of Sam Ahmed, Vice-chairman and Chief Creative Officer, Rediffusion-Y&R to move on. All creative teams across the offices will report to Sohal, who, in turn, will report directly to Diwan Arun Nanda, MD & Chairman, Rediffusion Y&R.

Speaking about her appointment, Sohal said, “It is indeed an exciting opportunity for me and the team and I look forward to create some path-breaking work for the agency.”

After joining Rediffusion Y&R in March 2013 as National Creative Director, Sohal has played an active role on several campaigns of Rediffusion Y&R across the country. Her haul of international awards includes the Grand Prix, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and finalists at Cannes, One Show, The ANDYS, Art Director’s Club, Clio, Dubai Lynx, Mena Cristal Awards, London International Awards, New York Festivals, EPICA, and Loeries.

Sohal began her career in 1993 at Trikaya Grey as an Art Director. Thereafter, she moved to Enterprise Lowe as Senior Art Director and then joined Euro RSCG as Group Head. In 2002, she moved to Y&R Dubai. Her last assignment was as Executive Creative Director for Lowe Middle-East and North Africa, based out of Dubai. Over all these years, she has worked on global brands such as Harvey Nichols, Land Rover, LG, Citibank, Colgate, Virgin Atlantic, Axe deodorants, and Microsoft Xbox, to name a few.

 Meanwhile, Rediffusion Y&R has also announced the elevation of Chraneeta Mann as National Creative Director – Regional. She will be in-charge of Delhi & Bangalore offices and will report directly to Sohal.

Speaking about Mann’s appointment, Sohal said, “Chraneeta is a highly accomplished creative professional with more than 17 years of experience, of which, she has spent more than 10 years within the Rediffusion Group. So, she is clearly poised to take up this new leadership role and succeed in it. My goal is to ensure she receives all the support she needs and I’m eager to work with her more closely to set the creative tone and direction of the agency in the years to come.”

Mann added here, “Rediffusion is like family to me. We have our own successes and struggles, but the thing that keeps me going is the unwavering support of the management and the people I work with. So, I’m excited with this new challenge. It’s great to be working with Komal and I hope to gain a lot in terms of leadership insights and more from this closer collaboration with her.”

Mann had joined Rediffusion Y&R in her second stint in 2009. She has around 16 years of experience in the industry and has collectively spent more than 10 years with Rediffusion. She has won a number of National and International awards at festivals such as London International Awards, New York Festivals. Her work has featured in The Workbook and Luerzer’s Archive. More recently, she represented Rediffusion Y&R as a jury member at Goafest 2013.

She began her career as a junior copywriter at JWT and has left a mark on Sony Ericsson, Honda Car & Motorcycles, Daikin Air conditioners, IffcoTokio General Insurance, Suzlon Wind Energy, Nomarks, Taj Group of Hotels, GPI – Four Square, BPL home appliances, Ole soft drink in Sri Lanka, Lanka Tourisim, Maruti Suzuki – Maruti 800, Corporate, Gypsy, Indus League Clothing, W store for Women’s wear, PVR, and Airtel to name just a few. At Rediffusion Y&R, she has left her creative stamp on LG, Zoot campaign of MTS, Tata Nano, Arrow, Amway, Paras, and GPI-Tea City. As a senior creative team lead at Delhi, Mann has played a significant role in the last four years in helping build some of the marquee brands in Delhi as also forging strong client partnerships.
