Puma venture into retail space, opens exclusive store in Delhi

Sports lifestyle company Puma on Tuesday launched its exclusive store in Delhi at the West Gate Mall. With the opening of this store, Puma unveiled its new Autumn Winter-2006 collection. Done in the official colours of red and white, the store houses the entire international collection of Puma apparels, shoes and accessories.

Apart from its sports performance products, Puma promises to offer a wide range of apparel and accessories through its newly launched Autumn-Winter collection '06. The new product range will be available through Motosport, Moto, Golf and 'Mahanuala-Yoga for women' collections.

"We believe that the sports apparel segment has a huge potential in the Indian market. The opportunities presented by a rapidly growing demand for brands, the growth of a young, affluent middle class and promise of future economic reforms make India one of the most exciting and rewarding place for a dynamic sports lifestyle brand like Puma," said Rajiv Mehta, MD, Puma Sports India Pvt Ltd.

On Puma's expansion plans, Mehta said, "We will have two or three key franchises in India. We will be soon launching stores in Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune apart from launching another store in GK-1 in New Delhi. Next year, we will enter into tier II cities."
