Prasoon Joshi, Executive Chairman, McCann Erickson India, and Regional Creative Director South and SE Asia, McCann Erickson, will be on the judging panel for Spikes this year. Spikes aims to encourage and celebrate creative excellence across all forms of advertising and also seeks to raise the bar for creative standards in Asia.
Spikes is an award ceremony that was established in 1986 by Media magazine and is also referred to as the Asian Advertising Awards. The event has changed from its previous avatar of a night award show in Hong Kong to a three-day creative festival in Bali, to be held from April 25-27, 2007. It has revealed that the entries received this year had seen a 20 per cent increase as compared to the previous year’s first entry deadline. The last date for submission of entries this year is January 26.
This year, Spikes has added five more members on the main jury panel, including Joshi. Others who will be sharing the duties with Joshi and Bob Scarpelli, Chairman, DDB Worldwide, are Chukiat Jaroensuk, CCO, Euro RSCG Thailand; Lim Sau Hoong, CEO and ECD, 10AM Communications, Singapore; Steve Simpson, Partner/Creative Director Goodby, Silverstein and Partners, San Francisco; and Jureeporn Thaidumrong, Founder/ECD, JEH United, Thailand.
Commenting on the new-look Spikes, Managing Director Tim Waldron, said, “Over the last three years we have made a significant investment in transforming the Spikes from a one night award show in Hong Kong to a three-day creative festival in Bali and feel that in doing so we have put the Spikes on the same platform of prestige as those in other areas of the world.”
