Pradeep Guha, President, The Times of India Group, has been unanimously elected as President of the Indian Newspaper Society for 2004-05. Guha who was Deputy President of INS, takes over from M.P. Veerendrakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Mathrubhoomi Publishing Group.
Guha, speaking to exchange4media immediately after being elected, said: “I think it’s a big responsibility and I hope to carry forward the baton.” Asked about future plans, he said, “There are lots but wouldn’t like to reveal them at the moment.”
INS sources confirmed that Jacob Mathew of Malayala Manorama has taken over as Deputy President, and Gulab Kothari of Rajasthan Patrika has been appointed Vice-president, replacing Hormusji N Cama of Bombay Samachar Weekly. Mahendra Mohan Gupta of Dainik Jagran, Kanpur, is the new Honorary Treasurer, while P.K. Lahiri is the Secretary-General of the society.
