Orissa Tourism scouts for agencies to promote the state of Orissa

Orissa Tourism is set to join the aggressive tourism promotion bandwagon that seems to be in vogue off late among various states.

It is reliably learnt that a high powered committee is going through presentations from a shortlist of agencies in Bhubaneswar this week following a review of initial proposals from interested agencies last month.

The agencies, which will be making their presentations reportedly are Mudra, Leo Burnett, Rediffusion, Lintas, Sobhagya, Span and Pressman, apart from a few local shops.

It has been learnt that a budget of Rs 3 crore has been earmarked for advertising with a view to fully leveraging the state’s tourism potential.

Orissa Tourism had been advertising sporadically under the strapline – ‘Soul of India’. Now with several major industrial giants like Posco, Tatas, and Jindals slated to invest in the state, there is a new focus on projecting Orissa to the outside world among the powers that be.

The Orissa government is working with PricewaterhouseCoopers as their consultants to take this initiative further.
