OMD mulls growing its integrated specialised services in Bangalore

It’s now official. Following the Intel Corp win, OMD is scaling its operations in Bangalore. There has been a flurry of activities, including some rumours and some truth vis-à-vis the agency setting shop in Bangalore. It is learnt from sources close to the development that the agency is hiring people and also planning to bring its integrated offerings to the city, and what could be better than the Digital given that Bangalore is the tech-city.

Confirming the development, Jasmin Sohrabji, MD, OMD, said, “We have been operational in Bangalore for over six months now, but scaled up operations in the past two months post-Intel. We have a small team right now of seven, but will grow in the coming months as our business expands.”

She added, “We are looking at OMD Bangalore to additionally house and grow some of our integrated specialised services such as the Digital among others. We have a young and very motivated team in place, and we intend to grow both traditionally and expand our other offerings too.”

However, Sohrabji did not comment on the person who would head the branch and also OMD’s other businesses in Bangalore, stating that discussion on these matters were still on. It is learnt from sources that an old Mediacom hand, MV Suresh, would probably head the Bangalore operations, though Sohrabji didn’t confirm or deny this news.

It may be recalled that in April this year, OMD had bagged the business of Intel Corp following a global pitch process. Globally, the business was with Universal McCann, while Lodestar Universal was handling the business in India prior to the pitch.
