OMD India has added another business to its kitty. The media arm from the Omnicom Group, which is just over a year old in India, has bagged Bunge, the makers of vanaspati brand Dalda in India. The incumbent on the business is MindShare. Details on whether the client had called for a multi-agency pitch before signing the new agency were not available at the time of filing the report. Industry estimates peg the ad spends at Rs 15 crore.
Confirming the development, Jasmin Sohrabji, MD, OMD India, said, “It’s a category that the team at OMD has huge experience in, and we hope to partner Bunge with a combination of both our knowledge and OMD proprietary tools and insights.”
Earlier in the year, OMD India had scooped the Intel business.
Bunge is an international brand name that operates in various segments from fertilisers to food products. In India, Bunge serves the retail oil and commercial bakery markets. Bunge owns Dalda, the only ‘national vanaspati brand’. The brand also creates specialised shortening and oil products for commercial bakeries and operates a bakery product development and customer training centre in India.
