Fernando Vega Olmos, president, VegaPlmosPonce, Argentina & Unilever Worldwide Creative Director (Lowe) has been is this year's Outdoor Jury President, the organisers of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival announced on Wednesday.
Mr Olmos began his career as a copywriter at Gowland & McCann Erickson, moving on to Ratto BBDO where he was the creative director and then on to Casares Grey as the executive creative director & partner where, in 1992, he became the first Argentinean creative to win a Gold Lion at Cannes.
The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival also announced that Renetta McCann, CEO, Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) will chair the '06 Media Lions jury. Ms McCann has for long been one of the advertising industry's most overt proponents of the engaging power of media communications.
She started off with Starcom, which was then part of Leo Burnett, in 1978 as a client service trainee. She became a vice president in 1988, media director in 1989, and was later elected senior VP in 1995.
From 1999, she served as CEO of Starcom North America presiding over the company's most expansive region, the Americas which encompassed Canada, the US and Latin America. She was appointed CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group in October '05.
David Lubars, chairman and chief creative officer (CCO), BBDO -North America, has also been appointed this year's Titanium Lions Jury president, the organisers said.
