National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), the largest thermal power generating company of the country and wholly-owned by the Government of India, has called advertising agencies for empanelment to handle various jobs at the corporate centre, regional offices, projects, subsidiaries, etc. located all over India. The empanelment will be for a period of three years. The pitch process is set to begin in the Capital in the next few days. Last date for agencies to apply is August 14, 2012.
Sources close to the development have confirmed the news to exchange4media and it is understood that multiple agencies will be presenting for business which is touted to be worth Rs 50 crore.
Agencies that were empanelled by NTPC in 2009 include RK Swamy BBDO, BEI Confluence, Graphisads, Sobhagya Advertising, Adman Advertising, Concept Communication, Continental Advertising, Critique Communication, Garuda Advertising, Goldmine Advertising, Interads, National Advertising Agency, Perfect 10 Advertising, Pressman Advertising & Marketing, and Airads.
Empanelled agencies would manage institutional, recruitment, financial, hoardings and other outdoor advertisements for the company along with designing campaigns on behalf of NTPC and the Ministry of Power and organising exhibitions / fairs / melas and other activities.
Only the agencies with an average annual turnover of Rs 10 crore during the last three completed financial years are eligible to apply. The agency must also have offices in two states and should have also executed in the last five years, at least one contract for designing and printing of one annual report or one corporate brochure or three issues in a year of house journal and at least one contract involving designing, fabrication and installation of one pavilion at an exhibition conducted by reputed national / international organisers e.g. ITP0, Chemtech, Powertech, CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, organisations for development of commerce / industries in states, etc. The above work should have been done for a PSU/ public limited company / central / state government / ministry / autonomous bodies / statutory bodies.
For the record, NTPC was set up in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. Apart from power generation, which is the mainstay of the company, NTPC has also ventured into consultancy, power trading, ash utilisation and coal mining. NTPC became a Maharatna company in May, 2010, one of the only four companies to be awarded this status.
